My Soap Story

I have always loved soap! I’m not sure why? Maybe it was the smell or the texture. Or the bubbles. I started collecting soap as a child. Every time I stayed at a hotel, I had to take one of those thin, rectangular, perfectly wrapped soaps home with me. I loved the way the name of the hotel was stamped into the surface of the soap. When I looked at my collection of wrapped soaps, I could reminisce about where I had been and who I had visited.

Art and design has always been my creative outlet. Over the years, especially when my children were young, I enjoyed making handcrafted headbands, hair clips and jewelry with them. In the past few years, I have experimented with woven fabrics and learning how to make small tapestries and scarves out of wool, yarn, cotton and silk fabrics. When researching various fabric designs, I stumbled onto marbled art and that lead me back to soap! I had forgotten how much I had loved soap as a child, and I had never thought about making my own…And so my new soap journey began and has led me here! To the Soap Tapestry.
